BINDER

This is the first project we did in Prototype Design using x-acto knives. We used blueprints to draw the lines on poster board where we need to cut. Then we cut on the outside border of the design. Then we cut two lines on the inside, but only partially, creating "joints" for the sides of the binder to hinge on. I then drew a design on the front of it.

PD LOGBOOK

This is my Prototype Design logbook. At the end of every week, we have to fill out a page, describing what we did on the days we were here. First, we got together all the pages we needed for the book. Then, we hole punched them all. After that, we connected them using a plastic binding. Finally, we designed out covers based on things we liked.

LETTER

This is the first initial of my name. We made this using poster board, hot glue, and x-acto knives. First, we drew the design of our letter. Then we cut it out using the x-acto knives. After that, we cut out long one inch strips of board and cut them according to the lengths of the side of out letter. Finally, we glued these one inch strips to the outline out the letter, so that it had walls. Now we can put things like plants or candy in it.

MARBLE MOVERS

Note: I wrote the first paragraph when i was just starting my project, and the second one was written after it was done.

My marble mover starts with a spiral. The marble rolls down only one side of the spiral before falling through a hole and down an incline plane and into a wheel that pushes it to the left or right. It then drops down, going into a funnel before falling down a slide, into a box.

I decided to change my design for the marble mover. I couldn't get the spiral to work, so i decided to make it one ramp. It the falls to another ramp and the turns into a ramp with stronger paper meant to slow down the marble. it then turns onto another ramp, which has walls that the marble falls onto and rolls down. It then goes down another ramp and rolls down a paper towel roll and into a box. The box has platforms that are slanted, to let the marble roll down them before it falls into a large glue stick cap i used as a cup. In total, the marble rolled for about 13 seconds and it took about five weeks to finish.

RUBBER BAND RACER

For my rubber band racer, I made a tank looking car. I first made the base and then build on top of that to make the shape. I then added the wheels and rubber band to the bottom of the car. Next, I tested the racer, and it drove 75 cm across the floor. I had to add hot glue to the wheels for traction. I then painted to car green and added red highlights. If I were to do something differently, I would use metal axles instead of wooden ones, because the rear axle had snapped in half.

PHOTOSHOP

For our last project, we made five photos using photoshop. The first two are called "jump-outs". We had to take a photo of an animal and a person and make them loom as though they are "jumping out" of the photo. I decided to do a picture of a wolf jumping and a man walking down the street. If I were to change one thing, I would have put ore time into cutting out the wolf. Otherwise, I`m happy with those two. For the other three we had to make a photo of ourselves with a celebrity. The first photo I did was one of myself in the film "Singing in the Rain". The second was of me stalking Bruce Springsteen on stage. The last was of me with the Teletubbies. If I were to change any of these, I`d have put more effort into the shading on the Bruce Springsteen photo. My favorites are the Teletubby photo and the jump-out of the man.
